Day 8 "Yet You Wear Humility"
Bowed in Humility

Bowed in Humility

Good Morning Beauties!

Thanks for joining me here today. I pray you are leaning in and breathing in the beautiful Love and Truth God has for you. He longs for you to meet Him each day so He can reveal Himself to you. Are you longing for Him too?

Yesterday we stood in awe of God’s Majesty. Unlimited power and might, able to win every battle, able to pull down any stronghold, able to defeat any foe. He created everything from nothing and has complete command over it. Who else can quiet the storm - both literal and figurative?

Today we’ll take a look at the “quiet” side of Jesus. I’ve used this illustration in prior journeys, but it is the most perfect example of Humility I know. The gospels tell of how Jesus was tortured by the Roman guards, both physically and emotionally. They scourged Him, spat upon Him, and humiliated Him, made Him carry His own cross - and Jesus remained silent through it all. He said nothing. Though He could call down a legion of angels from Heaven to save Him, He knew in order to save us, He would have to die on that cross. It wasn’t until He hung on His death device that He said His first words, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.” Luke 23:34 - New International Version.

Make no mistake, the humility Jesus showed as He suffered pain, agony and death may have appeared quiet, but it spoke loudly to the enemy! The grave had been denied, death lost its sting, and we have eternal life! Humility is simply putting others first. Isn’t that what Jesus did? Our salvation and reconciliation with the Father was more important than His own life!

God moved through Heaven and Earth through the Humility of Jesus. As His disciples, we too have power through the Holy Spirit to “cast mountains into the sea,” but are required to conduct ourselves with humility….thinking of others before ourselves.

Have you heard Jesus called "The Lion and The Lamb”? It’s a great way to understand His power and His humility. Enjoy the song below and pray about how God wants you to move in humility today. Selah.

Good Morning Beauties!

It’s a beautiful Monday morning, and I pray you’ve had a wonderful weekend of resting and trusting in the Lord. We’ve now been on our journey together for a week, and I pray you’ve found a comfortable flow in your schedule to spend time with God and listen to all He has to say.

Perhaps the first week of journaling has brought up some difficult issues to process. It’s good to check in with your soul - your mind, will, and emotions. If you’re needing a boost of strength right about now, today’s lyric is a great remedy. We’re looking at God’s power and majesty and how He freely gives it to us who believe in Jesus.

Psalm 93:1 speaks of God’s awesome power and strength as it beautifully describes Him wearing His majesty as garments. Can you see it? God seated on His Throne clothed in regal robes and crowned in gold. That’s the picture we have of an Earthly king. How does the view of the all powerful Almighty God change your picture?

Paul writes in Ephesians 1:19-20, “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Hm in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the Heavenly realms.” - New Living Translation

It may be difficult to comprehend all the power we have as Daughters of The King, but I pray today you will get a glimpse. I pray you will know with certainty you are strong and have been given the strength to defeat the enemy and his lies. In this strength and confidence, I pray you will allow God to reveal any fear the enemy has placed in your mind. You do not have to be the one to tremble in fear; let The Light (Jesus) tremble the darkness!

In the power you’ve been given, what do you want to accomplish with God today? Selah.

Day 6 "You Are Lovely"

Good Morning Beauties!

Today we begin our journey by looking at the next True attribute, “Lovely.” I love the definition, “exquisitely beautiful.” How do you define it? What comes to mind? Do you see a particular person? Do you relate it to yourself?

This word is so beautiful to me, but nothing I related to - until recently. I see the word as being gentle, which is what we are called to be. Jesus was absolutely strong in His gentleness and such an example of how we are to respond to others. Growing up, I was much more tomboy than princess, so I had a tough exterior. My inner spirit was also tough and strong. I felt like I had to protect myself, so I grew up believing strong is good, but gentleness showed weakness, and that was definitely bad.

It’s interesting how the enemy starts his war with us as children. He takes messages from people and circumstances and creates lies that fill our developing minds. Eventually, we believe them and start living them. What lies did you believe as a child? Do you still believe them? Will you ask God to reveal them to you today? Selah.

Below is the Beautiful Truth about how God sees our Lovliness. The scripture is followed by footnotes which help us understand the meaning in Hebrew, the language in which it was written.

“Look at you, my dearest darling, you are so lovely! You are beauty itself to me. Your passionate eyes are like gentle doves.” Song of Solomon 1:15 ~ The Passion Translation

  1. The Hebrew word for “beautiful,” yāpāh, is used five times to describe the Shulamite, and three times she is called hayyāp̄āh bannāšîm (the most beautiful of women). Eight times her beauty is extolled. Eight is the number for new creation life.

  2. The Hebrew text literally means “Your eyes are doves.” Some see this as a hypocorism, but the dove points us to the Holy Spirit. She is commended for seeing him with spiritual revelation as she perceives the glory of the cross with its “myrrh.”

Eight times The Bridegroom calls His Bride “Beautiful.” Did you catch that amazing connection? In the Bible, the number eight signifies new life! He has brought us new life, each one of us, and He gives us a whole new BEAUTY. Selah.

Love and Blessings,
Kendra

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

Good Morning Beauties!

Let’s reflect on your first True Attribute today. You are BEAUTIFUL. We’ve looked at several ideas in these past few days: how God’s light of Truth shines in the darkness and brings restoration, how Christ has made us a new creation - the old is gone and only the new exists, how God values and honors us by giving us the title of Daughter of The King, how God considers all our things, and loves us anyway, how beautiful it is to know and trust God allowing us to sweetly surrender our lives to Him.

WOW! These first few days were filled with His Awesome Truths. Take time today to dig a little deeper into the Truths God revealed to you during your examination of your Beauty. You may want to return to Day 1 and see how your idea of beauty has changed or how you now see yourself in relation to it. What are the lies that have been replaced with Truth? Selah.

Love and Blessings,
Kendra

Beautiful Surrender Photo by Ryan Moreno on Unsplash

Beautiful Surrender

Good Morning Beauties!

We come back to a familiar lyric today, “You are Beautiful.” It’s the theme of the song, so we will look at it several times during our journey. There are so many aspects to the idea of Beauty and what we believe is truly Beautiful.

In my quiet time with God today, He spoke to me about the Beauty of Surrender. A woman with a surrendered heart and spirit is incredibly beautiful. Micah 6:8 tells us what the Lord requires of us, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” ~ New International Version. Do you know any women who live this way? I am blessed to say, “YES!” I know women who live surrendered to the requirements of God, and the best word I can find to describe them is BEAUTIFUL.

What do you think leads them to a life surrendered to God? I think the first step is knowing and trusting Him. Knowing God is to know absolute Perfect Love. He is Love, afterall. Knowing the loving Father and knowing that He sacrificed His own Son for me, allows me to trust Him. God wants the best for me. His plans for me are not just good, not even great, but they are PERFECT.

So here’s the question, if I know God Loves me, and His plans for me are Perfect, why would I hesitate to surrender my heart to Him? Examine your heart and determine if there are parts of your life you’re refusing to give to God. What is He speaking to you about those parts? Selah.

Good Morning Beauties!

Welcome back for today’s encouragement. You’re doing great! It’s easy to turn back after just a few short days, but you’re here - dedicated, committed. YAY!

Loved above all things - what does that mean to you? What are the “things”? Are they the good things, bad things, big things, small things? Consider writing them down in your journal for further examination.

If you’re like me, you’re asking, “How can You (GOD) possibly love me above all my short comings, above all my disobedience, above all my ugly behavior?” The more we get to know God, the more we understand His Love. Unconditional. Unfailing. Never Ending. Perfect Love! Do you know this Love?

God’s love also makes us new to live in Freedom. We’re Free from things that have weighed us down like feelings of guilt, shame, and despair. What lies do you believe that are keeping you away from receiving God’s love? Do you believe you’re unworthy? Not good enough?

Or is it quite the opposite, where you believe you’re doing just fine without anything from God? You have a good job, good friends, loving family, money in the bank - why do you need anything else? Let’s be real - don’t you still have that deep longing for more? That emptiness in your inner being that needs to be filled? The hole was made by design so that only the Love of God can fill it.

Take a look at the list of your “things.” What do you hear God saying? Selah.

Good Morning Beauties!

I just love today’s lyric, “Daughter of The King.” How amazing to be given such a beautiful title, and that is exactly who we are, daughters of The Most High King. We are honored by God with this position in His Kingdom.

Is this a new thought for you? To be honored? What do you think about your royal title? This particular truth took me a while to believe, because growing up I felt anything but honored and valued.

Take a moment and ponder God’s Truth. You are a Princess in the Kingdom of all Kingdoms, the very Kingdom of God. Our Abba Father, (Daddy) loves us so much, He’s given us a new role despite what it may have been in the past. Selah.

Today let’s honor Him as He has honored us.

Good Morning Beauties!

Happy New Year and welcome to the first day of our 40 Day Journey! Are you approaching today with excitement and anticipation? I know I am. Thank you for taking the last three days to prepare for your journey. You won’t regret it.

So, let’s get started by reviewing the process itself. In the introduction section of your journal, you will see some suggestions for a successful experience. They include starting your time in prayer. This time is to get your mind focused on God and leave the world behind for awhile. After prayer, listen to the song, “You Are Beautiful.” This time is to have your heart hear Truth being sung over you. I know some Beauties, (including myself) who love to dance during the song. After listening to the song, or perhaps during, open your heart to “hear” from God. What impressions is He making?

Now it’s time to journal. The first question asks what you currently believe about the Truth in the lyric. Today you will journal about what you believe about the Truth, “You are beautiful.” Do you believe it? First of all, what is your idea of beauty? Let’s start there. Once you have it defined, how do you feel about it in relation to yourself? Do you believe you are the beautiful daughter God created or do you hear an inner voice saying, “you will never be beautiful.” Are you beautiful? Whether the answer is “yes” or “no” write down your thoughts. The next section is asking you to journal about what you think God is speaking to your heart. Did He reveal a lie you’re believing? Is He replacing it with His Truth? Perhaps you need to look up the word “Beauty” in the Bible, and see what scripture says about it. This process takes time - have you allowed yourself enough time today?

Power lives in prayer. Write down your prayer as you end your time journaling. Perhaps it’s as simple as “help my unbelief,” or “thank you for your Truth.” That’s an honest prayer. It doesn’t have to be long or eloquent, just real and from your heart.

Be aware of any shift or change that happened in your head or heart. It may start in your heart with an emotional response, and then examined in your head as a new thought. Once you’ve wrestled with the possibility of the new thought being True, you will begin to believe it and start walking it out in your life.

The transformative power of accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior is very real. We truly are a new creation when we believe in His grace that saved us. Let me ask you, do you believe it? Do you believe you are a new creation - all things made new in you? What things are you holding onto from the past?

This 40 Day Journey will help you uncover those very things. God will use this simple song and journal to shed His Glorious Light on the lies of darkness that still live inside you, binding you from the Freedom that He died to give you. Are you ready for His Truth? Are you ready to surrender everything and say, “Jesus have Your way in me”? Selah.

Preparation Day 3
As the Deer Pants for the Water

As the Deer Pants for the Water

Good Morning Beauties!

Thank you for joining me today as we prepare for our journey together. So far, we’ve looked at our expectations and obstacles. Now it’s time to examine our motivations for completing the 40 Day Journey.

Different from your expectation, why are you implementing this experience in your life right now? What is it that will get you out of your cozy bed in the morning to spend time with God? Do you want to know more about Him? Do you already know Him, but long to be in His presence and grow deeper in relationship with Him? Are you perplexed as to why you still react to situations like you did in your childhood and you want resolution?

There are a million different reasons we’re on this journey, but you need to find yours. What is it that will keep you moving forward on Day 23 when you’re “not feeling it” that day?

Like I said before, this my eighth journey experience, and I have had life changes each time, so I look forward to seeing what God will reveal to me next. There’s an intimacy with God that grows deeper with each new journey.

i won’t sugar coat it, this experience can be difficult. It’s hard to look at painful situations to discover where the enemy has lied to us. It’s not easy to surrender a belief you’ve held onto for years, perhaps forever. Commitment on your part is an absolute must. The journey is 40 consecutive days. It is not something to complete every few days or a few weeks, but 40 consecutive days. I have to be honest, not many have success with this commitment. That’s why staying motivated and knowing why you’re going on the journey is so important.

Despite the difficulties, to learn God’s revealed Truth is absolutely worth it all. There is freedom in knowing who you truly are. There is new life waiting for you without the burdens you currently carry. Hallelujah!

So I ask you again, why are you going on this journey? Selah.

Love and Blessings,

Kendra

Preparation Day 2
Overcoming Obstacles

Overcoming Obstacles

Good Morning Beauties!

Welcome back. I pray you spent quality time thinking about your expectations of your 40 day journey yesterday. It’s such an important step in the entire process .

Today we will look at obstacles that may stand in your way of having a successful journey. I can almost guarantee there will be challenges along the way, but they were meant to be overcome. First we must identify any hindrances that prevent a smooth journey. Once identified, we must create an action plan to overcome those roadblocks.

I have found in my own experience as well as others’, time is the biggest obstacle we face. There just never seems to be enough time to sit down and pray, listen to the song, listen to God speak to our heart, and then journal about our revelation. That’s true! There will not be enough time in our current schedule, so we must make time.

Making time in our schedule for such an important journey is a must. What does that look like for you? What will need to be different for the next 40 days? Will it mean going to bed earlier in order to wake up earlier? Will it mean having your husband take care of the kids instead of you? Will it mean not watching the morning news and instead sitting down with God?

Use your journal to write down any obstacles you can think of that may hinder your progress on your journey. Beside each one, write down an action plan that will help you overcome them. You will refer back to this list along your journey. Remember, preparation is key to your success!

Love and Blessings,

Kendra

Good Morning Beauties!

Welcome to the New Year’s 40 Day Journey. I am so glad you’re here, but more importantly, God is delighted. This journey will be my eighth, and with each experience, God continues to bring new revelation of His Truth.

I believe this 40 Day Journey experience is a “narrow gate” which leads to the Truth of God few people find as written in Matthew 7:13-14. “Come to God through the narrow gate, because the wide gate and broad path is the way that leads to destruction—nearly everyone chooses that crowded road! The narrow gate and the difficult way leads to eternal life—so few even find it!” The Passion Translation. How can we possibly navigate through this world without knowing who we really are? Without knowing the Truth, the enemy fills our heads with lies. Our belief in them leads to our destruction. God desperately wants you to know the Truth about who you are, who He created you to be which will lead to a life of love, joy, and peace. A life of fulfillment. A life He died to give you.

As you can see, this journey is significant, and with anything of great importance, we must approach it with great intentionality. We must prepare for our journey. The first step in our preparation is to examine our expectations. Why are you wanting to go on this journey? What do you want to accomplish? What are you willing to do? What do you want God to do? Everyone has different answers and different journey experiences. Yours will not look like mine, and that’s the way it’s designed - as unique as each individual.

The universal goal is change. We are asking God to reveal the lies we’ve been believing and replace them with His Truth. The battle is waged in our minds. Transformation occurs when we trust God and allow Him to change our thoughts. Are you ready for this kind of change? Selah.

Love and Blessings,
Kendra

Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.

Day Of Reflection
Free To Be Me

Free To Be Me

Good Morning Beauties!

What a beautiful day to reflect on our 40 Day Journeys - with the tremendous blessing of Christmas still fresh on our minds and in our hearts. I pray your day to celebrate the coming of our Savior King was glorious.

In your journal is a couple of pages for you to write as you reflect on your entire journey as well as a space for your prayer as you move forward. You may want to look back at the attributes of Beautiful, Lovely, Joyful, Royalty, Righteous, Redeemed, Purity, and Child of God and write down where God spoke to your heart about something personal. Is this where you identified the lie of the enemy and replaced it with His Truth? Where do you see the most growth? Do you feel closer in relationship to God? What are the top three encouragements from your time spent with God?

Where has He brought Freedom to your life? Here’s my question….so what? What was it all for? I believe the Bible explains it best in Galatians 5:13. “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” New International Version.

Just like Jesus, we are not here on planet Earth for our own indulgences, we are here to serve others in His Name with the power of His Love. It’s as simple and complex as that. If we are weighted down by lies of the enemy, we are unable to live in the Freedom we need to effectively care for others.

Thank you for sharing this journey with me. It has been a pleasure and honor to walk with you. I pray one of the first “serving others” steps you take is to share your journey experience with women in your life. I’ve learned that even the most confident and “well put together” women believe lies they need to replace with Truth.

Another way to encourage other women is to share your story on my website. Prayerfully consider how God wants to use your story to bless others in this way. Please just go to the “My40DayJourney” section and hit the “Share Your Story” button. It’s an easy process and will take only a few minutes.

One last idea is to buy a few journals and invite your friends and family to join the next journey with you. Not only will you draw closer to God, but you will draw closer to each other. It’s a beautiful way to lift up the ladies in your life.

Let’s pray together - Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for who You are. The Loving and Kind Father who loves us and calls us His own. We thank you Lord for this journey with You where You have lovingly taught us so much about You and ourselves. Be with each of us now as we take these Truths and go make a difference in the world. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

It’s time to celebrate your accomplishment! I’ve included a song that speaks of our Freedom in Christ. Enjoy - and I hope you dance in your new Freedom.

Christmas Beauty

Good Morning Beauties!

It’s time to Celebrate!!! There’s so much to be grateful for today….the Birth of Jesus and Day 40!!!

Let’s take our excitement to the Lord in prayer…Dear Holy Father, thank you for Your Love that provided us a Savior who left His place in Heaven to come down and rescue us and provide eternal life. Thank you also for providing the discipline, motivation, security and love throughout our 40 Day Journey together. You have spoken to our hearts and told us Truth. You have exposed the lies of the enemy and replaced them with your revelations of Truth. We thank you and celebrate you today, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Tomorrow on the Day of Reflection you will look back at your entire journey experience and journal about it as a whole. Today, let’s look at the lyric, “And you are Beautiful.” What does this word now mean to you? How has your definition of it changed over the past 40 days? What do you believe today about your beauty you did not on Day 1? What are the lies you no longer believe and the Truths that have taken their place? Selah.

As you ponder these questions, here is a song that speaks of God’s Truth about who you are, because that’s really all that matters…what He says.

Children Of God

Good Morning Beauties!

Happy Christmas Eve day! I pray you are looking forward to today with anticipation. To embrace the coming of our King, Savior, and Friend. How are you feeling? Will you do anything differently tonight than you normally do? Will you begin a new tradition?

I pray today’s lyric will find it’s way deep into your heart. John 1:12 says if we believe in Jesus, we have the right to become children of God - it’s a right. There is a condition, and that is of believing in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. If we believe, we become a new creation, born of God. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 New International Version.

John 1:13 goes on to say our True Father is God. Our whole life makes an eternal shift when we believe in His Truth. Do you believe? How does your life look different since you’ve made this shift? If you haven’t made it yet, are you willing to now? Selah.

Day 38 "Treasured By Our Lord"
God’s Cherished Treasure

God’s Cherished Treasure

Good Morning Beauties!

Today’s lyric is one of my very favorites. I especially like to reflect on it at Christmas. At this time of year, we focus on the Christ Child - Jesus as a baby. He was God’s own Son who came to the Earth to save us. God treasures His one and only cherished Son, and He feels the same way about you and me.

If you’re a parent, you can definitely relate to this love. Think of your child or children and how they are the most special people in the entire world. No other child is as brilliant as your child. No one is smarter, funnier, more creative, better looking, and the list goes on. They are your absolute Treasures!

You know what it feels like to love and express love to your child, but do you know what if’s like to be treasured? Were you that child who was loved and cherished? Did you feel special growing up no matter when you behaved good or bad? If yes, you are blessed to have been valued by the people who’s opinion mattered most to you. If no, I’m sorry - but it’s not too late.

I love the word ‘treasured.” It provides a picture of something that’s of great worth. Men will search a lifetime for hidden or sunken treasure and be willing to die for it. Isn’t that the same thing God did for you? He searched for you all those years, and was willing to lay down His life for you…His Treasured Possession.

You are of tremendous worth and value to God and to His Kingdom. What are the lies the enemy told you that say you’re anything less? Selah.

Love and Blessings,

His Delight

Good Morning Beauties!

The fullness of the Love of Abba Father is something too grand to comprehend. In our journey with Him, He reveals a little more each day. Are you looking for it? Do you long for it? Are you intentional about your awareness of how God is loving you? Selah.

Especially at this beautiful time of year, Christmas brings our attention back to the birth of our Savior, Jesus. Are you able to keep your attention on Christ, or is it diverted to the pressures of a commercialized Christmas? You’ll get no judgement here, I’m running out today to purchase those last minute items to ensure my husband’s Christmas morning is special.

My prayer for all of us is that we will focus on the Truth about Christmas - God’s love for us. We are so loved The Father sent His Son into the world - His Love left Heaven and came down to Earth. He loves us in the greatest way the world has ever seen or will ever see. Jesus left His rightful place in Heaven to die on a cross and bring us back to The Father. The absolute best Gift ever given - Jesus Christ, Savior of the world.

How will you keep your focus on God’s love for you today? Selah.

Day 36 "You Are A Child Of God"
The Love of a Father

The Love of a Father

Good Morning Beauties!

Today we listen to the crescendo and begin perhaps the best attribute of all, we are Children of God. In a world that values titles, I think this is the very best one we could have. It means we belong to someone - Abba Father. (Abba in Greek is similar to Daddy in English.)

As good as our Earthly fathers are or have been, they can not possibly meet every need. How can they? Being human means being imperfect. They will make mistakes. Abba Father is perfect and He will meet every need; big and small, He is always there to support us, guide us, protect us and provide for us. He is our Creator and source for everything we need. “I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ!” Philippians 4:19

Today as you journal I encourage you to write down where your Earthly father let you down. Create a list of where you had a need and he could not or did not fulfill it. What lie did the enemy tell you when each one of these things occurred? Which lie(s) are you still believing?

Now, go down your list, one by one, and pray to forgive your father for every item. This process will help free you from disappointments, hurt and resentments in order for you to live the free life God intended. After praying forgiveness over each offense, now look at the list of lies. Ask God to reveal HIS Truth about each one. The Truth that says you are Loved, Chosen, Not Forsaken.

This process will take time and should not be rushed, but will be worth every second. Are you worth it? Is your relationship with your Earthly father worth it? Is growing closer to God with His Truth worth it? Selah.

Day 35 "And You Are Beautiful"
Holy Sanctuary

Holy Sanctuary

Good Morning Beauties!

I pray you are intentionally slowing down during one of the busiest times of year to spend time with your Creator. I often hear how the enemy steals our strength and joy through our busy schedules, and I believe it. Especially now, in this hectic season, I pray you make time to spend reflecting on the miracle of Christ’s birth.

Below you will find a special study on the Beauty of Purity. This beautiful presentation speaks of God’s Holiness in relation to purity. It’s quite stunning.

Day 34 "You Are Purity"
Pure Worship in His Presence

Pure Worship in His Presence

Good Morning Beauties!

As we wrap up our seventh attribute, Purity, what have you learned about yourself? About God? About the Christ Child, Jesus?

Christmas is only a few days away, and as it draws near, I think of that special day. I think of the characters involved and try to put myself in their shoes. Mary is simply magnificent! An innocent young girl who loved God and was pure hearted. God saw her devotion and purity and knew she was the perfect woman to mother His Son.

I’m so glad God sees my heart and not my actions. Like Paul describes in Romans, my spirit is in constant battle with my flesh. I do the things I don’t want to do, and I don’t do the things I want to do. Can you relate? Thank goodness God sees past all our failings and sees our hearts. Hallelujah!

Are there any “stains” that you need to surrender to God today? Are there any lies buried in your heart you still believe God won’t forgive? Selah.

Day 33 "Perfect In His Sight"
Unique Perfection

Unique Perfection

Good Morning Beauties!

Are you ready to look at a successful way the enemy cripples us from living in true freedom? It’s a tool he uses called perfectionism. Are you familiar with it? Have you been its victim? Are you now?

When I break it down using logic, I come to this conclusion - perfectionism is based in fear, and we know that fear comes from the enemy, not God. If we’re a perfectionist, we have the affliction in most parts of our life, not just one or two. Let’s take a look at an example.

I’ve tried to be perfect in a work setting. At times it served me to excel and achieve top performance, but at what cost? The constant fear of failing my manager lead to years of stress, making poor choices for my own health, and not having a balanced life. I had to achieve at all costs, or I would disappoint others, which I could not bare.

So let’s dig deeper. What is it about not meeting others’ expectations that has me so fearful? What will happen? What am I afraid will happen? Rejection. The fear of rejection is a powerful force. In a work situation, it could lead to losing a job. In a social situation, it could lead to losing a friend or friends causing us to be alone. The fear is real, we feel it, but fear is only an emotion, and a tool of the enemy.

The Truth is much more powerful than the lies. Lies that tell us we’re alone, we’ll lose our job, we’re unwanted and unloved. The truth is, we do not have to strive to be perfect for two reasons. First, God is our provider. He knows what we need, and He’ll make sure we have it. “Consider the birds of the air….” Matthew 26:34 Secondly, God is Emmanuel, God with us. He will never leave you nor forsake you. God loves you with a Perfect Love, and this love is all He sees when He looks at you.

We do not have to live in fear of rejection. We are perfect in His sight. In your journal, write down some places in your life where you are trying to be perfect. Dig deep - what is the rejection you fear? Selah.

Love and Blessings,
Kendra
