The opposite of Free is bound. The lies of the enemy will bind us and prevent us from walking in the freedom that God provides. What has you bound today? I encourage you to create a list in your journal of those things you can identify as keeping you in chains. Selah.

Do you know that certain someone who “glows” with the love of Christ? They brighten the room when they walk in. What do you think it is about that person? I believe it’s the power of The Holy Spirit living in them as they maintain a personal relationship with God. Being in the very presence of The Almighty God is life changing!

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 in The Message Bible provides a stunning picture of what it means to be free by the power of The Holy Spirit. Let this Truth sink down deep and free you from what binds you. “Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are—face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.”

Let’s talk about Joy! What’s the first thing you think of when you hear that word? Do you have it? Do you want more of it? On a scale of 1-10, where is your joy level?

When I hear the word Joy, I think of a sense of being that’s more than a feeling. I also think of the scripture we all know in Nehemiah 8:10, “…for the Joy of the Lord is your strength.” The scripture verse helps describe what I believe Joy is and what it does for us and in us.

Nothing can stop a joyful heart, not the worst day, not any circumstance. A Joyful heart is steadfast, focused on the Lord, and constantly reminded of the indescribable gift Jesus gave freely on the cross.

I find my greatest Joy when I’m in communion with God, and that happens at its deepest level when I’m writing praise and worship songs to Him. My heart is close to His, and I can’t help but praise Him. Psalm 84:2 in The Passion Translation is a beautiful description - you can find it below. When I’m lost in the magnificence of His presence, all troubles fade away, and I find courage and strength in remembering I serve the Almighty God, Creator of all things. Our time together brings me back to an eternal perspective, and there I find great JOY.

I encourage you to review as many scriptures as possible with the word Joy. Where is God revealing your True source of Joy lives? Selah.

Here we are on Day 10 already. Thank you for your dedication to your journey and to God. Let’s take a look at how it’s going so far and if any adjustments are needed.

In Preparation Day 1 you wrote down your expectations - what you expected from God and of yourself. Looking over the past 10 days, are they being met? Do you need to make changes?

Preparation Day 2 was all about obstacles to your journey - those boulders the enemy would try to use to throw you off course. You listed them and devised an action plan to overcome them. How is that going? Do you see things in your way that you had not anticipated? Are the action plans working? Do they need a little tweaking, or a whole new plan?

You looked at your motivations for taking this 40 Day Journey in Preparation Day 3. How is your interest level now that you’ve journey through 10 days with God? Are you eager to meet with God every day, or is it more of a chore, a responsibility, an item to check off your list? I think you will experience all of the above on different days of your journey, I know I do…and it’s okay.

I know this isn’t easy. You are uncovering lies, some that have been with you for a very long time, and asking God to replace them with Truth. Life transformation is hard. There is a spiritual battle going on, but we already know the Victor - Jesus!

One last thing today, please read the Bible verse below from Song of Solomon. What do you believe about this Truth? Selah.

What has God been saying to you about the attribute of your Loveliness? Do you see that it contains strength alongside gentleness? Similar to the phrase often spoke about Jesus, The Lion and The Lamb. Jesus has the power to defeat any foe, and yet He laid down His life as the sacrificial Lamb to save us.

One of my favorite books in the Bible is Song of Solomon. It’s a romantic love story of Christ and His Bride, and reading it for the first time is when I began to realize just how much He really does love me. The revelation of Christ’s love changed me forever. I particularly love the following passage…

“For you are my dove, hidden in the split-open rock. It was I who took you and hid you up high in the secret stairway of the sky. Let me see your radiant face and hear your sweet voice. How beautiful your eyes of worship and lovely your voice in prayer.” Song of Solomon 2:14 The Passion Translation

Jesus kept me safe from harm by placing me in the cleft of the rock, but is now calling me to come out and be who He created me to be. He sees my beauty and wants to hear what I have to say through my pleasing voice. It’s a beautiful picture.

Seeking God’s wisdom in prayer

Good Morning Beauties!

On the surface, it seems that Majesty and Humility are opposites, but in reality, they are quite similar. Both are fueled by God’s power living in us. The power to move mountains and the power to remain silent while being misunderstood, unheard, or unknown.

I love what the Message Bible says in Colossians 3:12, “So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.”

The very best example of Humility fueled by Love comes from Jesus. He was humiliated, flogged, and hung on a cross, all the while remaining silent. It was an injustice of epic proportion, and yet He did not call down Angels to save Him. Jesus endured this torture for us - His Love for us. The first words He did say were, “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34. The true definition of Humility came from Jesus.

How well do you wear humility? Do you put others before yourself in the name of Love? Do you readily go to God for His wisdom instead of relying on yourself? Christ lives in us, so we are humble by that very fact. The question is, do our behaviors line up with this Truth?

He gives us the power and ability to act in humble ways, motivated by love. Take time to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Truth about your motivations. Selah.

I’m so thankful this morning for all of you who are on this journey with me, for your courage and strength and desire to know God more. Blessings to you all today!!

Let’s look at Majesty….

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word is the image of Majestic Mountains and Purple Mountains Majesty from "God Bless America." Majesty is grand, it's glorious, it's regal; and we are clothed in it!

Clothing is important to me. I think in society, in general, we all use our clothing to express what the inner person is really like. Think preppy, hippie free-spirit, and sporty. Three distinct visions come to mind, right? How much more important are the spiritual garments we wear that show the world who we really are on the inside of our spirit?

I looked up the definition of Majesty and found the word Dignity, and I love what it means. "speech indicative of self-respect." WOW! What do our words indicate about what we think of ourselves? It doesn't have to be overt self-hate words, but what are the subtle words we use? Do we use words that bring life or death to ourselves? Selah.

I encourage you to read Proverbs 31 today. It's a glorious picture of a Godly woman. Verse 25 says, "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she laughs at the days to come." I love this picture! A woman who has self-respect, is strong, does not fear, and is confident. Does this picture describe you? If not, ask the Lord to help reveal any lies that keep you from believing the Truth about who you really are. Selah.

Today we continue our journey by contemplating the next attribute we have in Christ - the Truth we are LOVELY. What does that word mean to you? What’s the first thing that comes to mind?

If we look at an English definition we find, “attractive or beautiful especially in a graceful way, very good or likable, very pleasing.” Is this how you feel? Do you know God sees you this way?

I’d like for us to look at scripture regarding this word LOVELY. The root word is LOVE, and we know God is Love. Let’s look at it from this perspective. In Philippians 4:8 we read, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Do you see it? The perfect description of Jesus. So, Paul is encouraging the saints to keep our focus, minds, and hearts on Jesus, the perfecter of LOVE.

“That’s Jesus, not me,” you may say. Please remember and believe these Truths: we are made in the image of God - who is Love, (Genesis 1:27) and Christ lives in us! (Galatians 2:20) We are His living temple, and are consumed with His Love. We already have all the things that make one LOVELY, we just have to believe it. Will you believe it today? Selah.

Today we’re wrapping up the initial look at our first attribute of who we are in Christ - Beautiful. Let’s review how we interpret the word Beauty and how our perspective is different than God’s.

Where did you learn the meaning of Beauty? Was it from early childhood in your earthly father’s house? A specific situation? Multiple media messages? In the past few days, what has God spoken to your heart about your Beauty? Has there been a particular scripture verse, song, or impression He’s given you that made an impact?

Do you share the same perspective as God regarding your beauty, or is it different? Are you willing to surrender your ideas and allow His to become your new Truth? Selah.

Beauty. The dictionary defines it as, “the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest).

So, you’ve now heard what Dictionary.com says about beauty, but what do you believe about it? Take a moment to write down your own definition. Do you believe you meet your own definition? If not, where do you fall short? Consider using a page in your journal to write down two columns, “where I am beautiful” and “where I am not beautiful.” What does your current belief system say about your beauty? Selah.

It is helpful to know what we currently believe and what God says as Truth. I love the different versions of Ephesians 2:10. In one version we are called God’s Masterpiece. WOW! Do you feel valued and adored as any great masterpiece is? If that seems foreign or uncomfortable to you, then look closely into your heart. Why? Open up and let God speak to you. Selah.

Are you wondering what is going on? Are you a little confused at the last two day’s lyrics? Please forgive me! I’ve never mixed up the lyrics on all the other journeys; therefore, I blame it on the flu. (Insert smiley face here.) Today we’ll look at Day 2’s lyrics, and tomorrow we’ll be back on track with Day 4.

What do you think when you see the term, daughter of the king? Do you picture a princess? So how is it different when you see Daughter of The King? The capitalization changes the meaning. Beauty, you have a position of much worth - you are the Daughter of The King of all Kings.

Psychologists say that girls develop their identity, security, and self confidence from their fathers. I agree! Our earthly fathers can provide some of it, but we must turn to our Heavenly Father for absolute truth of who we are. God is our ultimate security where we can place our trust. In His perfect love we find our confidence, peace and joy.

I encourage you to spend good quality time with God today. If you need reassurance in any area of your life, invite Him into it. He will erase the lies you’re believing and tell you the Truth. Give Him just one thing today, and see what He will do for you. Trust Him. Selah.

Please accept my apology for the delay. The nasty flu bug caught up with me this week, and I’m moving pretty slow this morning. Despite how I feel physically, I’m excited to be with God and with you as we continue on our journey.

“Loved above all things.” What does that mean to you? What feeling do you get when you hear that lyric in the song? It feels amazing to me! Despite the low points in my life and my sin, God loves me. Compared to the most beautiful sunset, magnificent mountain range, delicate rose, He loves me more…above ALL things!

God’s perfect love came down from Heaven, died on a cross for us, and gave us victory over death. He loves us that much! Can you grasp it? Is it something you can comprehend? Selah.

Good Morning Beauties!

Welcome to Day 1 of our 40 Day Journey. Thank you for preparing for this adventure over the past three days. Please keep in mind the notes you wrote in your journal, as you will want to revisit them often.

The instructions for the journey process is simple. Start your time with prayer. Ask the Lord to free your mind of worldly issues so that you can be free to hear what He has to say. Relax. Listen to the song and allow His Truth to wash over you. Grab your journal. Write down answers to the questions and anything else you want - this journey experience is yours. Remember the artistic pages in the back of the journal for help in slowing your mind down and listening as you color.

Today, the Lord brought me back to my family role. We all have them. My older sister had the role of the Princess, so that left me with the role of Tomboy. I accepted my role and fulfilled it well. My Dad even gave me the nickname Poncho Pete, (a boy’s name.)

Recently, my brothers and I met back in Kansas where we grew up. It was interesting to go back with a fresh new lens. A lens of confidence and knowing who I really am … who He says I am. I no longer felt like an ugly girl, mistaken for a boy, but I felt like the beautiful woman God created me to be.

Please don’t misunderstand me, I believe beauty is at the core of who we ARE, not just what we look like. Acting out the role I was given did not allow me to be the beautiful person God intended. It’s taken a lot of time with God in prayer, in worship, and reading His Word to stop believing the lies of the enemy and to start believing God’s Truth. It’s a process. At times it’s painful and difficult, but in the end, walking in Truth and Freedom is glorious.

Quiet your mind and listen…what is God speaking to your heart about today? Selah.

In the past two days we’ve looked at our expectations of our journey and the obstacles that may get in the way. I trust you’ve given thought to these two topics and have written them down in your journal as a guide to help your focus during your experience.

Today we’re looking at motivation. Why do you want to take this 40 Day Journey? What is it in your life that is calling you to a deeper relationship with God? Has something changed? Do you find yourself in a valley and want to be brought out or are you in a mountain top place in your life where you want to grow even closer to God? Is it somewhere in between?

I love the verse in Psalm 42:1 from The Passion Translation, “I long to drink of you, O God, drinking deeply from the streams of pleasure flowing from your presence. My longings overwhelm me for more of you!” King David, often quoted as “the man after God’s own heart”, wanted to be in the presence of God and in deep relationship with Him more than anything else. Is that where you are? Longing for God? Longing for Truth?

Our desire to be close with God is a great motivator on those cold mornings when we’d rather stay in our warm bed a little longer instead of getting up and meeting with Him. Take some time this morning to write down the reason for taking your journey. Dig deep and know that you may need to come back to your answer to keep your momentum through the process.

Good Morning Beauties!

Welcome back to our second day of preparing for our journey. Today we’re going to look at any obstacles that may hinder your experience. These challenges may come in many forms, some small, some large, and some persistent. We each need to determine what are the road blocks that will try to keep us from a successful journey.

Remember our key scripture for our journey is John 10:10, “The enemy comes only to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come to give you life, and life to the full.” You will have challenges because the enemy does not want you walking in the freedom of Truth, but our God is much stronger, and will help you overcome any obstacle that gets in your way.

Once you spend some time identifying what yours may be, create an action plan to defeat them. I know a big problem for me is time. I’m not naturally a morning person, but I know if I get up early and spend time with God, I always get so much out of our time together. The action plan I put in place is going to bed an hour earlier and getting a good night’s sleep which allows me to get up an hour earlier. Once I wake up, I’m excited to spend time in worship and in conversation with God.

Welcome to our Christmas 40 Day Journey! I applaud your determination to make changes in your life and draw closer to God. Rest assured, He wants nothing more than to be in deep communion with you.

The scripture below explains that real change, transformation, happens in our minds. This journey will help guide you to uncover lies you believe and replace them with the revealed Truth of God. It’s a meaningful journey, and at times can be tough, but I’m confident you will be blessed.

Every journey needs preparation. If you were going on a 40 day trip by yourself, how would you get ready for it? In the next 3 days, we will look at different aspects of how to prepare for our 40 Day Journey.

Today please think about your expectations of the experience. What do you want to accomplish? How will you determine if your journey was successful? What are you willing to do, and what do you want God to do? These are some questions to start you thinking, but I encourage you to make this preparation day your own. Take a few minutes to write down your thoughts in the journal.

Congratulations - you did it! Take a moment to give yourself credit for your dedication to your 40 Day Journey. I know it took sacrifice and it was hard work…more importantly, God saw your devotion to drawing closer to Him.

Are you ready to dance in freedom on Life’s Journey? Knowing there will be more dark tunnels you must go through from time to time, are you still willing to dance, trusting God is with you? As you reflect on your journey, I ask that you take a look at your notes written down on Preparation Day 1. Did the process meet your expectations? Please reflect how they were met and how they were not met.

What were some surprises along your journey? Did you think it was going to go a certain way, and it went a totally different direction? How did God use these surprises to change a part or parts of your life?

Do you see your True Beauty now? Do you see His Love radiating out of every pore? He established your beauty so others may know Him. How does that Truth motivate you to engage with others?

Let’s take a look at Isaiah 61:1-3. Jesus provides our transformation so we will walk in newness of life, the life that He came to give us. With this new life, we will become ambassadors for Christ and the power of His Love. Our lives are a living, breathing testimony of the Goodness of God.

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”

God is so good and He has been so faithful. I’ve included a few praise and worship songs below to give you an opportunity to thank Him for all He’s done. These were songs from when I journeyed to Sydney, Australia back in 1999. (The videos will be a little dated, but please see beyond it.)

Welcome to Day 40! It’s a special day; one to once again reflect on your beauty. Please join me here tomorrow to reflect on your entire journey experience, but today it’s about looking one more time about the Truth of your beauty.

Day 40 on my first journey experience nailed it! God showed me how my beauty was a reflection of His beauty. “Every good and perfect thing comes from The Father of Lights,” (James 1:17) and that includes my beauty.

So on your Day 40, what is God revealing? Is there one more lie that is hard to release? Is there one more lie that’s been with you a long time? One more that somehow brings you comfort, and fear is keeping it close? Today is the day to let go and let God bring Light and Truth to who you are. Who HE says you are. Are you willing to release and receive? Selah.

Good Morning Beauties!

“Child of God” - there is no better title in the world. In this day and age of striving for success, we often forsake our life with God to gain a certain position. At the end of your life, will it matter what title you held on Earth? Will that title transport to Heaven? The only title that matters is Child of God.

I remember the feeling I had several years ago when I had great success with my company. My first year out I was awarded “Rookie of the Year, “ which was followed by “Manager of the Year.” It was a title I worked very hard for - I had pretty much dedicated my life (and health) for that title. Once I was awarded it, I felt proud and accomplished for about 5 minutes, then I returned to my hotel room and all I remember was feeling empty and lonely. Gaining the title had not satisfied me like I had imaged it would. What a let down.

In my experience, the only time I have felt completely satisfied is when I’m closest to God. His presence is unlike anything in this world, and is the only thing that makes me feel whole. King David knew the value of his relationship with God and wrote about it in Psalm 63. “O God of my life, I’m lovesick for you in this weary wilderness. I thirst with the deepest longings to love you more, with cravings in my heart that can’t be described. Such yearning grips my soul for you, my God! I’m energized every time I enter your heavenly sanctuary to seek more of your power and drink in more of your glory. For your tender mercies mean more to me than life itself. How I love and praise you, God! Daily I will worship you passionately and with all my heart. My arms will wave to you like banners of praise. I overflow with praise when I come before you, for the anointing of your presence satisfies me like nothing else. You are such a rich banquet of pleasure to my soul.”

Good Morning Beauties!

I love the word Treasure, how about you?  it's a beautiful word rarely used these days.  There is blessing in its duality of both noun and verb forms.  The noun means, "a quantity of precious metals, gems, or other valuable objects." The verb means, "keep carefully (a valuable or valued item.)"  

So, let me ask you, do you feel like a precious valuable person to God, whom he carefully keeps for Himself?  Selah.

If you have or had an adoring Earthly Father, this picture of being treasured, will not be difficult to imagine. If your Father, here on earth, had difficulty expressing his love and appreciation for you, then it's much harder to accept that God, your Abba Father, loves you in such a beautiful way.

Do you need help accepting the Truth that you ARE treasured by your Heavenly Father?  Take a moment to pray for that knowledge to drop from your head to your heart today.  Selah.

Beloved..."much loved, cherished, treasured, prized, highly regarded, admired, worshiped, revered."  Adored..."to regard with the utmost esteem, love, and respect; to honor."

Your Abba Father calls you BELOVED.  The God of Heaven and Earth ADORES you.  Do you believe it?  Do you know this Love?  Have you let this Truth penetrate your deepest wounds, silence lies, and mend your broken heart? 

Let today be the day you ask The Lord to show you His Perfect Love so you will never doubt it again.  Receiving God's love is life changing and will lead to the greatest transformation you will ever know.  The song and video below presents several testimonies of broken young women who have been transformed.  I pray you will be blessed and inspired by their stories and that you will receive all the Father has for you today.  Selah.
