Good Morning Beauties!
Welcome to our Christmas 40 Day Journey. You are brave, strong, and courageous and have followed Jesus to this special place. Thank you for heeding the call in obedience to our Savior. You won’t regret it.
To say I’m excited for this new 40 Day Journey is a massive understatement. My spirit has been saying, “It’s time,” for awhile now. Today begins my 14th journey, and with each experience, my intimacy with Jesus grows deeper, and I learn more truths about who I am in Christ.
I’ll be on this new journey right along side of you, as a friend and somewhat of a guide. Please meet me here on the blog daily, or on those days you want encouragement, or not at all. It’s up to you. Reach out anytime through the “connect“section of the website - I’d love to hear from you!
Preparation for the journey is vitally important. Can you imagine taking a 40 day trip without preparing for it? The three key elements of our preparation are: Identifying Expectations, Overcoming Obstacles, and Determining Motivation. Let’s look at each one.
Identify your expectations. What are you hoping to gain from this experience? How will you know if they are being met? What will you do if they’re not being met? Create a list of your expectations in your journal, (I use page 13-14 for all my preparation notes.) Include your answers to the questions I’ve posed.
Overcoming obstacles begins with knowing what they are, then creating a plan of action to defeat them. A common roadblock is time. For example, I must make time to meet with Jesus and journal each morning. I already have a busy schedule, so I get up at 5:00 am to continue my journey. In order to get up so early, I must make adjustments in my nighttime schedule and go to bed by 9:00 pm. Write down any obstacles you anticipate being a problem, and then create the action plan to ensure they don’t interfere with your journey. The enemy will try everything in his power to stop you from silencing his lies on your journey, so you have to be prepared.
The last thing, but vital to the success of your journey is to find your motivation. Why are you taking this journey? When the enemy is pressing in and making it difficult for you to keep going, what will keep you going strong? When you don’t see the results you were expecting by Day 20, what will keep you on the journey? Please write down your “WHY” and refer to it as needed.
Now that you’ve written down your expectations, obstacles with action plan, and your “why,” it’s time to go before the Lord. Pray he will use this journey to transform you. Jesus has the power to help you identify the lies of the enemy and replace them with his truth so that you can walk in freedom. Pray for an open and willing heart and mind that will be ready for anything that he reveales. Pray you stay the course when it gets difficult. The journey is a battle, so pray for protection and put on the full armor of God found in Ephesians 6 each time you sit down to journal. PRAY.
The most beautiful picture of how we’re completely transformed by Jesus can be found in Isaiah 61:1-3.
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”
How AWESOME! Jesus came to transform us and in such a loving way. Notice the action words in the scripture….proclaim, bind up, release, comfort, provide, bestow. He wants to do all of these things for us so we will reflect his beauty “for the display of his splendor.”
As you begin your preparation today, trust Jesus for the transformation he has planned for you. It may be a little, or it may be a lot, but rest assured it will be a blessing and just what you need.
Love and Blessings,
Kendra
