Happy Lord’s Day Beauties!

Today we finish the first stanza of the “You Are Beautiful” song with the truth you’ve heard three times now, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Have you ever noticed in the Bible, important truths are restated three times? I think God really wants us to understand this truth.

The journey is just beginning, but ask yourself if you’re starting to uncover any lies. They may be buried deep, or perhaps you just don’t want to uncover anything painful right now. I get it. I understand, and I’m praying you will open your heart to the gentleness and kindness of the Lord who wants to reveal truth to you. Do you sense a shift in your beliefs, any transformation of your thoughts happening? Please journal anything, even if it’s small to encourage your journey experience.

When you hear the truth, “You Are Beautiful,” what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Your appearance? Do you find yourself spending time thinking about your appearance or spending money enhancing your appearance? Do you compare your appearance to other women?

When you hear the truth, do you think to yourself, “I may not be the most beautiful on the outside, so I’ll make every effort to be a beautiful person through my behavior.” If this is the case, what happens when your behavior is not perfect? Are you no longer beautiful?

I’ve included three videos today to evoke a response to help you determine how you feel about beauty - yours, others’, and God’s. Please view them, maybe more than once, and journal your reactions. On the surface all the videos refer to physical appearance, but I believe the Spirit will speak to you on a deeper level if you’re open to the conversation.

Why is it so uncomfortable? In this video, people are called beautiful and their reactions vary greatly. (Please know there are a couple of bad words in this video.)

What do others see? In this video, woman describe themselves and then discover what others see during a brief conversation.

How does the Media influence our belief? In this video, young women share what they dislike most about their face, and then share what they like best about themselves.

Again, we are after truth, and the truth remains, we are beautiful because we are made in God’s image and Jesus dwells in us. We don’t have to do anything - we already ARE BEAUTIFUL. Celebrate the beauty of Jesus in this song, and know that you and Jesus are one.

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
