Day 6 "You Are Lovely"
Good Morning Beauties!
Today we’re starting the week with our second attribute, “Lovely.” What do you think of when you hear this word? What do you believe about your loveliness? Selah, (Stop and ponder these things.)
To this day, I still equate lovely with femininity and having a dainty quality. Growing up as the Tomboy in the family, (a role given to me) I thought of girly girls as weak, and I was glad to be strong. I depended on my strength to survive each day and it served me well.
Since growing in my relationship with Christ, he has shown me that a continued need to be my own strength is a lie. Jesus is my protector, my strength, my provider. He allows me to be who he created me to be - a feminine woman. He also uncovered the lie I believed that loveliness is weak - to the contrary, lovely things, and people are quite strong. Consider flowers that push through the frozen ground to bloom each spring. How about the delicate wings of butterflies that brave the strong winds as they migrate south?
Let’s take a look at the Beloved, (Bride) from Song of Solomon. She knows she doesn’t look like the other more dainty women, but in scripture 1:5 she boldly declares, “Dark am I, yet lovely.” Unlike most women in her culture, she had to tend to her family’s vineyard, and so her skin darkened in the sun. Though she didn’t look like the other women, she knew she was loved by the bridegroom, (Jesus) and had great value.
What lies have you believed that say you aren’t ___ (fill in the blank) enough or you’re too ___? Can you relate to my story or the Bride’s story? How is God revealing your loveliness?
If you’re holding onto the need to be your own strength, pray the Holy Spirit helps you let go today.
