Day 9 "You Are Lovely"
Good Morning Beauties!
How are you processing the truth of your loveliness today? What has the Spirit revealed, perhaps as a something you weren’t expecting. What lies have been uncovered? Selah.
I’m still reflecting on the dichotomy of Jesus’ character - he’s all powerful - like a lion, and at the same time he’s a humble servant - tender as a lamb who laid down his very life for us. He provides all the strength we need for any situation and shows us the way to lay down our lives to serve others in all humility.
I’ve included two passages of scripture describing the beauty of Jesus. Please take time to read through them a few times to get to know Jesus on a more intimate level. What is the Spirit illuminating for you? Pay careful attention to all he wants to reveal to you. Selah.
The Majesty of Jesus
“1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
5 You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
Psalm 8 (NIV)
Imitating Christ’s Humility
“1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:1-11 (NIV)
We are a reflection of Christ who lives in us. How do you see yourself in relation to strength and humility? Are there any lies you can immediately identify? Are you uncomfortable with surrendering your strength for his? Is serving others too humiliating to consider? Where is the enemy keeping you from the freedom Christ has for you? Selah.
Let’s celebrate this awesome and beautiful Jesus!
